Your First Visit to Our Columbus Practice

first visit image

During your first visit to Spine & Sports Family Chiropractic you will be greeted with a warm smile by our receptionist.

You will tell us a little about yourself and your health concerns.  Bringing the basics with you will help, such as your drivers license and insurance if you care to use it.  We will call your insurance company to ask if you have coverage in our office.  Most chiropractic care is covered by insurance.

Please try to arrive just 15 minutes prior to your appointment to complete this paperwork.  This will insure you meet with the doctor on time and he can spend the full time allotted with you.

Next, your visit will continue with a one on one with the doctor.  If you want to know more about our doctor, see his bio page on this website.  During your time he will sit with you and discuss what your issues are and take brief notes about your visit.  He may take an x-ray if he feels he can gain additional information from it.

After you have decided that the doctor knows all he needs to know, he may ask if you would like treatment or he may ask you to wait a day or two so he can review the notes along with the x-ray and come to a conclusion about your care.  On to the second visit!

Dr. Kemp Asks some important questions of interest to Columbus residents - Chiropractor Columbus Dr. Kemp Asks...

What's the difference between chiropractic and medicine?
Medical treatment focuses on the disease or the symptom. Chiropractic focuses on the person with the disease or the symptom. Medical treatment usually involves changing blood chemistry. Chiropractic involves restoring nervous system integrity. Medical doctors prescribe medicine. Chiropractors adjust the spine—a common source of nervous system interference.
What's the difference between a "good" drug and a "bad" drug?
As a chiropractor, I see the use of many drugs (legal or illegal) as merely symptom treating. Worse, virtually every drug produces unwanted effects. The effects of chiropractic are largely positive effects. If you're a Columbus parent, consider carefully before giving your child a cough medication, cold remedy or pain reliever so this sort of question doesn't arise in the first place.
